
Dr. Ryan Wallace, MD, MPH, FASAM

Addiction MedicineDr. Wallace is a psychiatrist, fellowship-trained addiction psychiatrist, and is also board-certified in addiction medicine. He earned his combined MD, and MPH degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. He then went to Yale University for a psychiatry residency, an addiction psychiatry fellowship, and to serve as an assistant professor – teaching Yale fellows, residents, and medical students – prior to moving back to Alaska. His research interests included examining the therapeutic potential of psilocybin and exploring the impact of anabolic androgenic steroids in a population of patients on methadone for the treatment of opioid use disorder. He now serves as a faculty member at AKFMR, is the program director for the Alaska Addiction Medicine Fellowship, and is the medical director of the Breakthrough Substance Use Treatment Program at Providence Alaska Medical Center. Dr. Wallace is passionate about building capacity for SUD treatment in Alaska, utilizing and teaching harm reduction, engaging and learning from community members, and serving the residents of the great state of Alaska.
